Concerning the Westerville City Schools District (WCSD) 2025 School Board race, I have good news and bad news. Before I proceed, I know none of these candidates on a personal level and my opinions are mine and mine alone. My opinion is based on public record and having attended WCSD School Board meetings. On a good note, there is ONE solid candidate that Conservative Christians can rally behind. The bad news is that the other candidates are all of the Democrat Party persuasion. Odd year elections are supposedly non-partisan, but school board elections are a favorite Democrat/Marxist playground – can start the Party proselytizing pre-school. Five candidates are running this year for three positions. Two of the five are current incumbents and three are new to the school board. Since political party affiliation is public record, I did my homework and four of the five are Democrats. Three candidates have been endorsed by the Delaware County Ohio Democratic Party. One WCSD School Board candidate is a central committee member of the Franklin County Ohio Democratic Party. Two candidates have been endorsed by the Vote Mama Pac which endeavors to help Democrat Moms run for office. Normally, in an election where I can make three candidate choices but can only vote for one candidate in good conscience, I would vote for only one. Unfortunately, there are two candidates that I am opposed to after having been at two meetings last fall concerning the LifeWise/Released Time for Religious Instruction (RTRI) issue and I absolutely, positively DO NOT want these candidates to sit on the WCSD Board of Education. Bringing in the Executive Director of the Ohio Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) to “shame” Christians sealed my conviction for opposing certain school board candidates. The two school board meetings last fall were enlightening. I am a tough old coot. I trained at emergency rooms in Newark, NJ; New Brunswick, NJ; Trenton, NJ; Cleveland, Ohio; and a hospital in Philadelphia, PA that was so replete with gang violence that the Philadelphia Police Department had a division stationed in the hospital because we were constantly dealing with knife and gun club violence and had admitted patients of opposing gangs filling beds every day. While at the WCSD School Board meetings last fall, I was made to feel uncomfortable for the first time in over 30 years every time I got up to go tinkle. As soon as I pushed through the doors to enter the hallway with bathrooms, several sullen men in black suits were just sitting there. Hmm……. Some folks may not have caught on to the intimidation tactic going on, but this Jersey high hair gal with inner city Philly street smarts certainly understood the message. I am popping Tums over the fact that I am going to have to vote for the President of the WCSD School Board who made this practicing Christian feel maligned as a Christian for the first time in my life at the school board meetings last fall.
Who I will vote for in good conscience: Mark Stevens
Who I will NOT vote for: Nafiso Jamale
Anisa Liban
Who I will hold my nose and vote for: Tatjana Brown
Kristy Meyer
