Today, I am posting news concerning vaccine updates.
1. The Trump Administration has dispatched an Executive Order concerning the childhood vaccine schedule. Of note, I am a retired physician who personally administered many vaccines to children in Ohio and New Jersey during my professional career. I am most assuredly NOT anti-vaccine. I have had mounting concerns over the increasing number of childhood vaccines administered over the last 30 years in an indiscriminate manner. I received the Hepatitis B vaccine series in 1985. I worked directly with human tissue at this time to extract microscopic proteins using a Cuisinart food processor. Thirty years ago, I was never able to wrap my head around why I was being pushed to get my kids Hepatitis B vaccinated. I was vaccinated because of a previous occupational risk. My pre-natal blood work indicated that I had been vaccinated and had never been infected. I am pleased to see that Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Covid-19, Influenza, Meningococcal, RSV, and Rotavirus vaccines have been removed from the universal vaccine recommendation. There are certainly cases where a child needs to be vaccinated against a certain pathogen because of a household contact risk or underlying medical condition, but for the rest of the little kiddies, leave their immune systems to develop naturally.

2. Yes, Moderna has conjured up an mRNA influenza vaccine that has been FDA approved. I do not participate in the yearly influenza vaccine ritual. I have been a juvenile, insulin dependent diabetic for most of my life. I have used common sense to keep infectious boogers away. Long before Covid, I always had a container of anti-bacterial wipes in my purse. Whenever I gassed up my car, I always used a wipe to clean my hands after I used the pump because I figured the person who used the pump before me had been on a nasal expedition digging for gold. I had seen enough little ones drooling profusely and licking the hand rails of shopping carts at the grocery store that I wiped off shopping cart hand rails before I used the cart and then used a wipe before I got back in my car to go home. Once home, I have always gone to my kitchen sink to wash my hands. At work, I washed my hands upon entering a patient exam room and after I examined the patient. Patients appreciated me for washing my hands before touching them and I never missed a day of work because an infectious disease issue. In the office, I also cleaned my stethoscope off with an alcohol swab before and after each patient encounter. I never, ever touch my face or rub my eyes in public and once home, I immediately go to my kitchen sink to wash my hands. As I now have severe rheumatoid arthritis and am taking some fun stuff that makes me even more immunocompromised – and mean according to my loved ones, I am very judicious about “out in public” ventures October 1- April 1 during flu-season. I never wear a mask. The mask will not protect me against jack shit and I do not want to be mistaken for being a libtard. If I am concerned about contracting something icky in the public realm, I stay home. If I were going to receive a flu vaccine this year, I would opt for the old school option and pass on the new mRNA vaccine. Each person, in conjunction with his or her medical provider, should make an informed decision about receipt of the flu vaccine.
