“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you.” Jeremiah 29: 11-12 (ESV).
The Westerville City Schools Board meeting last night reaffirmed my view of Marxist Capture of educational institutions. The vote on rescinding the Release Time for Religious Instruction (RTRI) was not surprising – 4 votes in favor of rescinding RTRI and 1 abstention. I am saddened that what has happened in Westerville is an example of the Marxist March through this country. The contempt of Christians, which was tolerated by the Westerville City Schools Board of Education, was palpable to any Christian not infected with the Marxist serotype of Covid sitting in the room. I really don’t understand why any parent whose child is not participating in RTRI would give a hoot about other parents’ kids participating unless the parent opposed to LifeWise Academy’s RTRI is a political zealot out to score a win for Team Marxist. I sat in the back of the board meeting room playing my Marxist Bingo Card as I listened to the public discourse and managed to match Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Christian Nationalism, White Supremacy, Hate, Book Banning, Feelings, Bullying, Peer Pressure. The meeting was an Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals sonata. Unfortunately, what played out was politics and 300 kids and their families lost a program that they found spiritually enriching and educational. Three out of five school board seats are up for reelection next year (2025). It is time to wise up and seek school board members who put students and parents above politicking. Trust me, the Marxists are already grooming their candidates for next year.
As I was leaving the meeting, I started talking to a young gentleman. I found out that he is 15 years old and has two younger siblings in the Westerville City Schools District who participate in the LifeWise Academy program. The siblings really like the program. I told the young man I was sorry about the evening’s vote and that I would pray for him and his family. With a warm smile, he looked at me and said, “I appreciate the prayers. You need to contact your Ohio State House Rep and Senator and tell them to get H.B. 445 passed now.”
Thank you, Lord. There are storm clouds on the horizon but by Your grace, we are going to be just fine.
Then I heard the Lord say, “Whom shall I send? Who will be our messenger?”
I answered, “I will go! Send me!” Isaiah 6: 8-9 (ESV)
