Winner of the Week

The Dingleberry Award this week goes to Jason Stephens, Republican Speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives.  In the November 2022 election, the Republican Party won 67 seats to the Democrat Party 32 seats.  The celebration of a Republican Party supermajority was short lived as RINO business as usual resumed in January 2023.  House Representative Stephens won the speakership with the support of all 32 Democrats and 22 sell out Republicans.  And therein lies the rub; when you lie in bed with the devil, the devil always gets his due.  What favors does Representative Stephens owe the Democrat Party?  Two Republican seats are currently open – District 90, Brian Baldridge was appointed as director of the Ohio Department of Agriculture and District 60, Conservative Warrior Kris Jordan died.  The seats remain unfilled.  As I type, the Marxists are out getting signatures for The Right to Reproductive Freedom with Protections for Health and Safety Amendment to be added to the ballot this November.  Currently, an amendment can be added to the Ohio Constitution with a 50+1 majority vote.  I have to admit that I was surprised when I found out the majority vote could be so low for something as important as a constitutional amendment and because once an amendment is added it is hard to claw back.  It appears that only Ohio will have a pro-abortion issue on the ballot this November which means a lot of out of state money is going to pour in to make Ohio an example of how to turn a red state into an abortion on demand state.  Two issues currently in the ether of the Statehouse are legislation to make 8/8/2023 an election day and then a thumbs up/thumbs down vote for changing to 60% the majority needed for addition of an amendment to the Ohio Constitution.  Today is 5/5 and the two aforementioned issues must be voted on by the legislature by 5/10 in order for an 8/8 election to occur.  Speaker Stephens has been pretty mum this week and the legislature will not be back in session until next Wednesday 5/10.  I imagine there will be a lot of shenanigans going on behind the scenes between now and next Wednesday.  I wish I could say I trust Speaker Stephens to do what the conservatives who have put a supermajority in the Statehouse would like to see done.  I have faith only in Almighty God and I am therefore going to pray, pray again and then pray some more.

If you have not read the proposed Amendment, it is posted under the Pro-Life call to action section of this site.  Read it.  The content is purposely minimal and vague which leaves the door open for abortions up until the time of delivery, genital surgery and medical treatment for minors and the exclusion of parents from abortion and transgendering procedures performed on their minor children.
