Two weeks ago, my husband and I did a pharmacy pick-up at CVS Pharmacy. We went home the back way through a housing development and my husband pulled a bonehead maneuver – he came to a California stop doing a roll through at an intersection with stop signs galore. My husband was pulled over and the police officer was a true blessing. After the officer took my husband’s driver license and went behind our car to do his due diligence, he came back and asked us about our Ohio License Plate. I told the officer that our plate was a Pro-Life plate that we had originally obtained from Ohio in 2009 when my husband’s father had died and we purchased his car from my mother-in-law. I explained that my father-in-law was a devout Catholic who had a deep respect for all of God’s creations and we obtained the plate to honor his memory every time we drove the car. I told the officer we were on the third automobile to which the plate had been transferred. I went on to explain to the officer that my husband and I were also Pro-Life and loved all God’s creatures. I told the officer that we sometimes worry when we park the car in downtown Westerville that we might have a tire slashing or two courtesy of one of God’s children – a Left leaning college student. He laughed and then he told us he “liked the plate.” He went on to explain that he was adopted. I praised Jesus because of this man’s great blessing. He had a birth mother who carried him to term and then loved him enough to entrust his care to God and a family who had enough love to share when her circumstances were adverse. My husband got off with a warning. Our spirits were enriched and lifted.
