The midterm election absolutely sucked if you are a Conservative, Evangelical Christian. Yes, I did vote RED. Are the election results surprising? Not really. We live in a sinful world. The Republican Party – Trump – has not lived up to “promises made.” I am medically classified as disabled with a life expectancy of less than 5 years. I am currently collecting my social security and I pay taxes on my monthly social security haul at the top tax rate. The Big Beautiful Bill “no tax on social security” is Big Beautiful Bullshit for folks like me. My husband and I have been married for 41 years and this past July marked the first time in our marriage where we have both been unemployed lounge lizards. My husband was RIFed (reduction in force) right after the 4th of July weekend. My husband and I have added a new word to our lexicon – Ageism. My husband will be 64 years old next month and the job market has been pounding him relentlessly up the pooper even though he is 100% healthy. Nobody wants to hire an “old fart.” My medical situation is such that I have monthly medication and durable equipment expenses of over $3,000/month. Fortunately, my husband and I have COBRA. The expense of our COBRA is $2,400 month. Unfortunately, COBRA only lasts for 18 months and I will not turn 65 and thus be Medicare eligible during this period. I am going to pray for Amy Acton and hold her to her campaign promises. I truly hope that Dr. Acton can make life more affordable for ALL Ohioans. Something has to give here for me and my husband. Amy, I am looking straight at you.
