Thought and Songs for Today
Jesus said to the crowds:
“Everything that the Father gives me will come to me, and I will not reject anyone who comes to me, because I came down from heaven not to do my own will but the will of the one who sent me. And this is the will of the one who sent me, that I should not lose anything of what he gave me, but that I should raise it on the last day. For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in him may have eternal life,
and I shall raise him on the last day.” John 6:37-40
Jesus will not reject anyone who comes to Him because He came to do the will of the Father. Jesus will not lose any who were sent to Him.

The general election is on Tuesday 11/4/2025. As 21st century Christians and Americans, we should wield our swords peacefully and prayerfully with our voices and at the ballot box.

Some points to ponder while considering whether to vote yea or nay for the Westerville City Schools District (WCSD) 0.75% income tax levy:
Concerned Citizens of Westerville
Genoa Township Residents For Responsible Development
I have to give the WCSD some points for being sneaky little goblins this Halloween season. The income tax request is a new twist in asking for money. Retired old pharts can now sleep easy in the knowledge that they have saved the children by voting for an income tax that won’t be their problem. I hope all the renters in the WCSD wise up to the fact that they will be seeing a new withholding on their pay stub. I will be voting No. I already grab my ankles every paycheck for the Feds and State. I believe the WCSD will have to figure how to make do with the large cash infusion I make twice per year via my property tax payments. I was talking with a friend of mine who lives in an upper class neighborhood along the Delaware River in Bucks County, PA a few weeks ago. My friend has a house appraised at 25% more than my house in Genoa Twp, Ohio, but he pays 25% less in property taxes. Wow, parts of Ohio are now out taxing East Coast suburbs with similar amenities.

If you are a conservative Christian, the Westerville City Schools District School Board race is a sad affair this year. In 2025, I am loath to vote for anyone in a non-partisan race who has Democratic Party ties. There are currently 5 candidates running for three school board positions. According to public information available from the Franklin County Board of Elections, Delaware County Board of Elections, and endorsements listed on candidate posted websites, I can, with a reasonable degree of certainty, discern the political party affiliation of the candidates as follows: 1. Tatjana Brown (D), 2. Nafiso Jamale (D), 3. Anisa Liban (D), 4. Kristy Meyer (D), and 5. Mark Stevens (R). Neither the Franklin County nor Delaware County Republican Parties have endorsed candidates for the WCSD School Board race. The Franklin County Democratic Party has endorsed Anisa Liban and Kristy Meyer, current incumbents, and the Delaware County Democratic Party has endorsed Tatjana Brown, Anisa Liban, and Kristy Meyer for the school board. Several Democratic Party aligned organizations (of note, the Matriots Political Action Committee has supported Republicans who are Pro-choice) have given endorsements for this race – Vote Mama Pac, Moms Demand Action Gun Sense, Westerville Education Association, Ohio Association of Public School Employees, Matriots Political Action Committee, Franklin County Young Democrats, and Westerville Progressive Alliance. For a supposed non-partisan race, this race certainly has a host of partisan participants. Normally, in a race where I have three choices but can only make one choice in good conscience, I would only vote for the one candidate. After attending two Westerville City School Board meetings during the Fall of 2024 with LifeWise Academy (an Ohio-based Christian educational program) and Ohio RTRI (released time religious instruction) on the agenda, I will be voting for three candidates – Tatjana Brown, Kristy Meyer, and Mark Stevens. As a God-fearing Christian, I was offended being lectured AT about Christianity by the Executive Director of CAIR Ohio (Center on American- Islamic Relations) at one of the two 2024 school board meetings concerning the RTRI issue.

Jesus addressed this parable to those who were convinced of their own righteousness and despised everyone else. “Two people went up to the temple area to pray; one was a Pharisee and the other was a tax collector. The Pharisee took up his position and spoke this prayer to himself, ‘O God, I thank you that I am not like the rest of humanity — greedy, dishonest, adulterous — or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week, and I pay tithes on my whole income.’ But the tax collector stood off at a distance and would not even raise his eyes to heaven but beat his breast and prayed, ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’ I tell you, the latter went home justified, not the former; for whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and the one who humbles himself will be exalted.” Luke 18:9-14
How do we pray to the Lord? Is it with pride or with humility? Pride in prayer blinds us from true self-knowledge. Self-knowledge is obtained through humility in prayer, which leads us to grow in holiness.

1. I was hoping the irascible Democrats would get with the program and vote the shutdown over with the clean CR once their No Kings performance art was over. SNAP (supplemental nutrition assistance program) benefits are threatened if the shutdown moves into November. As I think about this, and I could be wrong, I am thinking that the Democrats may not budge on the issue until after the 11/4/2025 election. The Democrats have zip, zero, jack shit leverage right now, but if they do well on the first Tuesday of November, they might be able to get some wussy members of the Republican Party to cave to a few of their demands. Pay close attention to the Virginia and New Jersey governor races.

2. I had the pleasure of briefly speaking with Charlie Kirk at the Delaware County Republican Party Lincoln Reagan dinner on 8/25/2025. I am a big Charlie Kirk fan and continue to watch his show on Real America’s Voice. I approached Charlie at the dinner and relayed how excited I was that he and many other young people are standing up for Christian family values. I apologized for the “stupid” of my generation – the Baby Boomers. He said to me, “People like you make up for it. Keep up the good fight.”
