1. Heads Up. Ohio could be in play for the 2026 midterms. Ohio’s U.S. Congressional District Map is slated to be redrawn this year for next year’s midterm election. I have posted two articles discussing the issue below. I had to chuckle while reading the articles because in politics absolutely nothing is nonpartisan – nothing. If the Democrats had supermajorities in both the Ohio House of Representatives and Senate plus ownership of the State of Ohio Executive Branch as the Republicans currently do, Democrats would be angling to redraw the maps to their advantage. Pass the popcorn; please, and Democrats – boo, hoo, hoo. I am sure the ACLU will be more than happy to represent you before the Ohio Supreme Court when the gerrymandering case gets filed. We will have to see how it plays out with the 6-1 Republican majority on the bench. I have to remember to keep myself in check because I have learned that Republicans never fail to disappoint.

2. Trump’s first judicial nomination of his second term was confirmed by the U.S. Senate this week. Judge Whitney Hermandorfer will sit on the U.S. Sixth Circuit which hears Ohio cases. She will replace Obama pick Judge Jane Branstetter Stranch.
3. The Biden Autopen Pardons/He’s As Sharp as a Tack Scandal. At the end of day, I’m assuming nothing is going to happen here. The Constitution gives the President an exceptionally wide berth for granting pardons. The real issue with the autopen pardons is the fact that Joe Biden was mentally incompetent (a legal determination, NOT a medical determination. Professional medical evaluations are often used for making the legal determination of mental competency) at the time the pardons were granted. Unfortunately, documentation of Biden’s mental acuity at the time the pardons were autopenned will be hard to obtain. Biden’s physician has already claimed “doctor-patient confidentiality” and “taken the fifth” when questioned by Congress. Of note, doctor- patient confidentiality does not apply if the patient is a danger to self or others. Cognitively impaired Scranton Joe should not have been POTUS when the pardons were signed. Did a single Republican Congress Critter file an article of impeachment based on Biden’s cognitive ability to perform his duties? A sad chapter in our country’s history when a demented old codger is viewed to be a better bet than the vice presidential ho.
