4. The Lindsay Clancy Case. The murder of three innocent children by their mother’s hand is an epic tragedy. There are soooo many issues to discuss regarding this case. Today, I am going to talk about the “hold-out” juror (HOJ). Over the past week, NBC News in Boston has been on a mission to doxx the man. Three women and one male juror have been making the media rounds. NBC Boston’s research on HOJ involved a search of his criminal and civil court proceedings, talking to his landlord, and hounding him and his relatives. Findings were put in the public forum. According to NBC, the juror had a domestic abuse complaint filed by his now ex-wife which was dismissed, a restraining order obtained by a nephew which is no longer in effect, and HOJ will soon be in eviction proceedings because he is behind in his rent payments. HOJ was the only black individual on the jury and according to the juror’s brother, HOJ came to the US from Haiti when he was 5 years old and the family is Catholic. Most people try to dodge jury duty. HOJ did his civic duty and now he is receiving a public linguistic flogging. I do not understand, especially since this case ended in a mistrial and therefore a possibility of a retrial is in play, why the jurors were not required to sign a non-disclosure agreement to avoid tainting a future jury pool. The court did not release the jury list. One of the female jurors was on NBC Saturday Morning this past weekend and said, “Even though we didn’t know what was going on outside of our little bubble that we were in, we knew that this was a turning point, and this would be something that could change something to make it better for other women in the future, for other families, you know, justice for those children is this never happening again.” I say, “No, Juror Devlin. Justice for the Clancy children is their mother being convicted of murder and spending the rest of her life behind bars. Main-streaming the post-partum psychosis defense will encourage and normalize filicide.” Of note, the Governor of Massachusetts signed a law legalizing abortion for any reason up until birth several weeks before the Clancy trial commenced. The value of a human life in Massachusetts has been downgraded.
